Bless The Haymaker {by Ryan Voss} A new day buds and I’m still breathin’ I’ll rise and shine, just waiting for a reason I feel altitude sickness watching you brave the mountains high But through my blisters and bloodshot vision, you’re a sight for sore eyes I’m a tad weary of this bitter chill and the storm in the brew Not that it matters to you I’ve the get-up-and-go to push up a few flowers Pour coffee in me and I’m gold for another hour Not quite sure where your head is, but I know it’s somewhere I should be And it goes without saying you’re far more pleasing to the eye than me These black days will see their curtain fall, our hunger will keep us alive For now, you go ahead and drive Haymaker, Your sun is still shining Haymaker, I see the cloud’s silver lining Storm-breaker, May the road rise to your spinning wheels Your song is how love should feel Depression is a subtle beast of burdens It’s tricky navigation that I’m still learnin’ But I sing rejoice in your tune, no matter the weather’s face Your inspiration is my rocket fuel, carries me to the edge of space No time for our spirits to rest with a universe to wander And I see you got another song there… Haymaker, Your sun is always shining Haymaker, I see the cloud’s silver lining Day-breaker, May the music always be your axe to grind I won’t be far behind We’re the gods of each day’s climax Come the dawn, it’s on again Right now, the sun shines on these body clocks One day. it’ll be ‘remember when’ The days are coming up roses, ‘Cause your hands have planted them Come, let us bask in this garden… It’s still hard not to wake up in a somber mood The human race is sick in it’s social solitude But cynicism seems to melt away with your voice in the air I’m lifted high by your Irish tongue, and it’s not so bad up here The songs carry the world’s weight, but there’s hope in this damaged ball Remember why we fall… Haymaker, Your sun is always shining Haymaker, I see the cloud’s silver lining Day-maker, May your solace be in each song you find I’m with you this time

Shabby {by Ryan Voss} Stop lookin’ at me like I escaped from the zoo, I could make the same case about you Quit glarin’ at me like I surfaced through some ooze, Let's see you walk a mile in my shoes You’re giving me the finger as a chorus of banshees linger Spreading vicious, infantile rumors Blessed are the meek, you’re just the story of the week, Another average insecure baby-boomer I’m moving in the right direction I carry the dirt of the ages on my back Failure of your society, Or compensation for all you lack? So sorry that you’re underwhelmed It’s not such a crushing blow Another one here in a sea of faces That you’ll never, never really know You’re getting quite pissy, I’m just here, existing And since when did you own the sidewalk? This scene endures your meddling, but I won’t be back-peddling Go find another ear to corrupt with your talk You’ve made some nice gestures & words best left censored You kiss your mother with that mouth? Quite the big-bang, Momentum like a boomerang Coming back to everything in yourself that you doubt I’ll rise with the right stimulation I may not have the right credentials on my person Blame it on my mental illness A mind that thinks sideways for some reason So sorry you’re disappointed Actually I couldn’t care less You give migraines to aspirin Now watch me finish this Behold the big boom In this tiny little room Makin' all the near-do-wells quiver Today you succeed Some future headline might read: 'All that swagger and they can't deliver!' I'm hittin' prime-time, Even if my shoes don't shine I'm coming up steadily I'm shabby in my garment But gold in my content And I think this rock is ready Yeah, I think this rock is ready I think this rock is ready I think this rock is ready…

The 19th Gorgon {by Ryan Voss} Ghosts of the petrified Where she casts her evil eye The cacophony of days of old Trails off... Poison in the wind and whispers Her grip on all that walks or slithers All the king's horses and knights fold, They crumble, crumble… I see dancers with no tunes Skipping to sing-songs in thought-balloons Sinking further in their padded rooms, With crestfallen faces Breathing deep in the gloom gathered Like clucking chickens with ruffled feathers Home to roost in uncertain weather, With the basilisk, and he’s smiling The Gorgon shadows everyone with a spark of life Young or old, any color in the cold quenches her appetite No man-made steel or wit can penetrate her skin Mother Gaea, Pray, take your daughter back again Orange-haired red king on the hillside, The people’s spoils expand his waste-line, Cares not but for his thrown come the changing tides, Should the castle turn to blue Faint-praising speeches with all the wrong words Divisions help to thin the herd So many fools at the throats of the experts, No Gods to intervene, huddled masses for her feed The Gorgon shadows everyone with a spark of life Young or old, any color in the cold quenches her appetite No man-made steel or wit can penetrate her skin Mother Gaea, Take this cruel daughter back again Earth returns to natural wonders While humans lock themselves into bunkers Awaiting the return of summer And nightmare’s end Ghosts of the petrified Beware her wrath or its your demise For now, just stay inside, Till the weather clears
